The Big Fish, Hockley Heath

Hewigo helps Marina maintain a family tradition her own way

At the end of the serving counter, next to the sparkling new Hewigo range at The Big Fish, fish and chip shop in Hockley Heath, is a large family photograph. Proudly hung there by owner Marina Angelides, it shows members of her family including her father at their newly opened shop over fifty years ago.

Marina respects the family tradition but has used the experience to do things her own way. This approach has produced a very successful shop in Leamington Spa, a brand new shop in Hockley Heath and shortly to be opened shop/restaurant in Stratford on Avon, all with the name The Big Fish. Using her training as a graphic designer, Marina has styled the whole premises with distinctive colouring, point-of-sale, funky curved ceiling and unmissable Big Fish motif.

The choice of frying range also reflects her taste for progressive design and finish – a Hewigo High Efficiency 4-pan counter range with computerised temperature control and timers, unique twin-pipe oil filtration system and finished with blue fluorescent lit stainless steel concave panels. “I project managed the whole conversion and installation myself,” says Marina, “and I was very impressed with the service from Hewigo all along the way. We got excellent support from genuine people and the range has delivered everything that was promised. The recovery times are excellent and we’re saving a considerable amount on gas.”

Phillip Purkiss, General Manager of Hewigo comments, “Marina is something of a perfectionist and I am pleased that we have been able to match her high standards with the range and back-up service.”
